The Edmonton, Alberta-based group seamlessly blend the raw, groovy rhythms of Nigerian Afrobeat and western Funk with the harmonic and improvisational sensibility of modern, instrumental Jazz. Their latest record, Mutant, is and old school, instrumental, Afrobeat/Jazz album recorded to 2" analog tapeInspired by artists like Fela Kuti, Antibalas, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea, the Fusionauts approach their compositions with a deep respect and admiration for these early pioneers and leaders. The music is emotionally and spiritually invigorating and will satisfy Jazz hardened listeners and skeptical newcomers alike.
