Fusionauts - 2013

by Paul Richey and the Fusionauts

Our first album. Released independently on September 29th, 2013. Recorded and Mixed in Edmonton, Alberta.

Blending the musical traditions of Jazz, Rock, and Folk music, Paul Richey and The Fusionauts take their name to heart. The band focuses on making new, creative music that is both exciting to hear and fulfilling to play using the harmonies of Jazz, the energy of Rock, and the singable melodies of Folk. South American and African traditions have also greatly influenced the sound of the band as their intricate rhythms are perfectly suited to the band’s style. The Fusionauts first formed in 2008 in Toronto under the name “The Jazz Rock Explosion” and although the name has changed the goal has stayed the same; to perform music that is challenging for the musicians, engaging for the audience, and enjoyable for both. For artists with similar concepts look to: Return to Forever, Yellowjackets, Pat Metheny, Bela Fleck, Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Jerry Douglas, Eliane Elias, and Michel Camilo. This album's personnel are: Paul Richey on piano and keyboards, Mo Lefever on Guitar, John Taylor on Bass, Jamie Cooper on Drums, and Dave Morgan on Trumpet.
